Information is gathered into several categories:

  • "Stories" has recollections and stories written by family members and concentrate on Eva and her kids, along with a few others things like places that were a major part of that generation. There is a search bar that will search just the stories near the top of the page.
  • "Photos" has old photos of the earlier generations. Each photo is tagged with who is in the photo and you can use tags to find photos. On the photo album page, you will see a box labeled "Search tags." If you click on this, you will get a list of all "tags" in the photo album. Clicking on a tag will take you to a page with all of the photos containing that tag -- that is, a collection of pictures with that person.
  • "Recipes" has old recipes from the earliest generations. There is a search bar that will search just the recipes near the top of the page.
  • "Documents" contains scans (or transcriptions) of important family member events, like the ship manifest from Eva and Sam's original trip to America. There is a search bar that will search just the documents near the top of the page.

Searching for information:

The "Stories," "Recipes," and "Documents" sections of the Peck Family website have dedicated search bars near the top of the page. The "Photo" section allows you to search by "tags." Each photo is tagged with the names of who is in the picture. There is a special tag, "unknown" on pictures with unidentified people. If you know any of these "unknown" please let us know using the "Submit" button, explained next.

Submitting new information:

This is where we need your help! If you want to add a story, you can fill out this form. Give your real name and email address, select from the pull down menu what category the information belongs in (story, document, recipe, corrections to information, etc). In the text box you can either type the information you want added, or just ask us to contact you. This will send email to us with the information. You can also use the form to tell us where we have a mistake.

Commenting on articles (stories, recipes or documents):

For now, we have enabled a mechanism that allows you to comment directly on stories, or almost anything you find on the web site. You can use this to add your comments about a story or even to add some additional information that is relevant to that article. Comments are moderated -- we will make sure that its a family member and appropriate content and not just some random person leaving a link to malware or an ad. In order to leave a comment, you need to log in using one of a number of methods, including logging in via your Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ account. Additionally, you can create an account for free on Squarespace (which is where this website is now hosted) just so you can leave comments. If you do that, please use your real name so we know who you are. Also, if your Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ account has a user name that is not your own -- and therefore we will not really know who you are -- please send us an email (you can use the comment form) and let us know that that user name is associated with you. Just give us the user name and your real name.

Thank  you for visiting!
